Eric Heidt is a 30-year-old Sales and Marketing Professional located in Singapore.
Eric grew up in Sugar Land, Texas, and went on to graduate from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry and a minor in Business.
Growing up in Texas, Eric was always attracted to Texas A&M University. Many of his extended family members went there, encouraging him to follow in their footsteps. Eric was accepted into the Texas A&M School of Engineering Aerospace program. After spending a year in that program, he took a chemistry course and found the aspects of chemistry more interesting than engineering – especially organic chemistry.
“Organic chemistry has always interested me,”Eric said. “I enjoyed hands-on courses that took place in the lab. My education in chemistry helped me in my future career as a salesman for companies that cater to oil refining and petrochemical processing facilities, both of which are massive chemistry sets.”
While studying at Texas A&M, Eric started his own rental property management business to help fund his education. Quickly, Eric found himself managing 22 contracts – this began his career in sales, marketing and business operations. Working with investors and tenants helped Eric develop valuable business skills.
Upon graduating from Texas A&M, Eric continued to manage properties – but he wanted to land a full-time job in sales as well. He joined A3IM as a Sourcing Specialist. A3IM is an O&G procurement outsourcing company; procurement was not his passion, but Eric was successful nonetheless by networking with suppliers and consistently posting top KPI’s.
Eric was offered a sales position at Daily Thermetrics, a supplier to A3IM, and began selling temperature control equipment. Here, Eric learned that he needed to master the technical side of his clients’business in order to gain credibility. That’s why he began chatting with field technicians and senior engineering managers to help him know all aspects of the business.
Since he was only 25 years old, Eric wanted to find new ways to gain recognition in the sales sector. He authored a white paper and was soon offered various speaking positions at events throughout the Americas and Europe. After his territory was expanded to Europe, Eric set up sales offices and regional distributors in the area.
After working with Daily Thermetrics for five years, Eric Heidt decided to take a job with WIKA in Singapore. He began overseeing its business development in Asia while continuing to speak at sales events.
After living in Singapore while working for WIKA, Eric noted some of the similarities and differences between the United States and Singapore.
“Singapore is a very western facing Asian country. Many consider Singapore “Asia Light”because its similarities to the west,”Eric said. “The big differences are the nuances like shopping, driving, and living conditions. In the United States, I lived in a landed house with a yard. In Singapore, most everyone live in high rise condos with smaller spaces.”
Outside of work, Eric enjoys traveling and exploring new places with his wife. Their favorite vacation spots include Cozumel, Mexico and Bali, Indonesia. Eric enjoys all of the beach villages, mountains and rice terraces that you can find throughout Bali. Eric enjoyed Bali so much that he is currently spending a lot of time there to learn the culture and the language.
Eric also enjoys spending time on the golf course, eating good food and drinking some fine bourbon.
